Storm Damage Repairs: Frequently asked questions
What types of storm damage can you evaluate?
We can evaluate visible damage to roofing, siding, gutters, windows, doors, and affected interior finishes. The repair scope depends on the property’s condition and our inspection findings.
How do I know whether my home has storm damage?
Visible signs can include missing roofing or siding, damaged gutters, broken glass, and new water stains. Some damage requires closer evaluation; avoid climbing onto the roof yourself.
Can you inspect my home and provide an estimate?
Yes. Send your full street address and a description of the concerns; photos taken from a safe location are optional. Our team uses your address to order a satellite measurement report of the roof and exterior and determines what inspection and estimating steps are needed.
Can you help with temporary protection?
Contact us to confirm availability. Temporary protection is scoped separately when needed and may be followed by permanent repairs once conditions allow.
Can you work with my insurance company’s repair estimate?
Yes. We can review the construction scope and provide documentation for identified differences. Your insurer determines coverage and payment.
Will insurance pay for all the repairs?
Coverage depends on your policy, the cause of damage, and the insurer’s findings. Our estimate identifies the proposed construction work; it does not guarantee insurance approval or reimbursement.
What if the damaged materials cannot be matched?
We’ll investigate available products and explain the options. Matching difficulties and the proposed repair approach can be documented for your review and, when relevant, your insurer’s consideration.
Can you repair interior damage caused by a roof leak?
Yes. We can include affected drywall, insulation, paint, and other finishes in the scope. The source of water entry and any necessary drying must be addressed before finishes are restored.
How soon can permanent repairs begin?
Scheduling depends on the scope, material availability, weather, access, and required approvals. We’ll explain what must be completed before your project can be scheduled.
What happens if insurance payment is delayed?
We’ll review the project’s payment requirements and scheduling conditions with you. The written agreement establishes when payments are due and what is required before work begins.
General project questions
How does the free 24-hour estimate work?
Choose your project type and describe your project in your own words. We’ll build a spec sheet for you to confirm, then send your free preliminary estimate within 24 hours. Add your contact information; photos and approximate measurements are optional. Roofing and exterior requests require your full street address so we can order a satellite measurement report. If essential information is missing, we’ll contact you to clarify the scope. Your estimate is hassle free: no commitment and no repeated sales calls. Estimates are valid for 30 days.
Is my online estimate a final construction price?
The initial estimate is based on the information provided. Final pricing may require a site visit, verified measurements, selections, and a written scope.
Can I book an in-home consultation?
Yes. Use our online scheduling option to choose an available consultation time and discuss your project with our team.
Do you offer financing?
We offer financing options through Acorn Finance, subject to approval and the partner’s current terms. The application link is attached to your estimate; financing applications are available after you receive it.
Is there a fee for scanning, modeling, or design selections?
Design and modeling are complementary services included with an approved remodel project. Independent design and consultation services are billed at an hourly rate or flat fee depending on the scope of the project. Your proposal identifies the services included, and any separate fee, agreement, or construction credit is disclosed before design work begins.
Who handles permits?
We identify permit needs during project planning. Your written agreement specifies responsibility for applications, fees, drawings, inspections, and any required professional services.
What warranty applies to my project?
Our workmanship is backed by a Lifetime Workmanship Warranty, subject to the written terms and exclusions. Your proposal and warranty documents explain the applicable coverage; manufacturer warranties are separate. Ask us to review the coverage for your specific project.
How are changes handled after I approve the project?
Changes are documented in writing with any price and schedule adjustments. We obtain approval before proceeding with additional work.
How are payments scheduled?
Your agreement specifies the deposit, progress payments, and final payment requirements. We review the schedule with you before work begins.
What areas do you serve?
D.A.S. Homes serves Chicagoland, including the south and northwest suburbs, and Northwest Indiana. Share your project location so we can confirm service availability.
